Government prioritising technical education: Water Resources Minister
Alongside general studies, the government will give the highest priority to technical education in secondary schools, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has said.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at the annual sports prize distribution ceremony of Pratapganj High School in Chandragunj upazila, Lakshmipur, on Saturday afternoon, July 4. Earlier, he inaugurated a newly constructed academic building at the school.
Annie, who is also the MP for Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency and BNP Joint Secretary General, said, "Students need support to perform well academically. To achieve this, the government has launched a mid-day meal programme in primary schools as a pilot project. The government is also focusing on technical education in secondary schools. Alongside general education, the government will prioritise technical education. There are also provisions for stipends."
The event was presided over by Pratapganj High School Management Committee President Anwar Hossain Bachchu. Among those present were Water Resources Minister's Private Secretary Jamshed Alam Rana, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kathoipru Marma, Chandragunj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nilufa Yasmin Nipa, Chandragunj Kafil Uddin University College Acting Principal Priyabrata Chowdhury, Chandragunj Police Station OC Morshed Alam, and Pratapganj High School Head Teacher Sirajul Islam.
