Government to install billboard nationwide to promote referendum
The government will install digital and static billboards across densely populated urban areas to raise public awareness about the upcoming referendum, scheduled alongside the 13th parliamentary elections on February 12, 2026.
A nationwide outreach campaign is already underway, with city corporations and municipalities instructed to set up billboards within their jurisdictions, according to a press release from the Chief Adviser’s office. The campaign also includes courtyard meetings, documentary screenings, “vote discussions,” and mobile promotional activities in various districts. Seven video contents have been produced, with more in development.
The directive was issued at a meeting on Thursday (January 1), attended by mayors, panel mayors, and administrators from 12 city corporations and 330 municipalities, either in person or online. The session was chaired by Professor Ali Riaz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser and chief coordinator for election and referendum awareness programmes.
Special Assistant Monir Haider emphasised placing billboards at entry points and crowded areas in major cities such as Dhaka and Chattogram. He also urged local religious leaders, including imams, to help communicate the referendum process to citizens.
City corporations and municipalities are instructed to display the referendum logo, Election Commission-issued ballot samples, and related leaflets in as many public locations as possible over the next seven days to ensure maximum outreach.
