Government to provide free education for women up to degree level
The government plans to provide free education for women up to the degree level, state minister for local government Mir Shahe Alam said.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion marking International Women's Day organised by the Shibganj upazila administration in Bogura on Sunday, March 8.
The programme was held at the upazila parishad auditorium.
The state minister also said there are plans to provide family cards to 40 million families within the next four years. Through these cards, people will be able to receive various government services without the need to rely on middlemen or brokers.
At the beginning of the programme, Shibganj police gave the state minister a guard of honour. He later took part in a tree plantation programme and addressed the discussion meeting.
Later, he attended a prayer and iftar gathering and reception organised by the district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party at Hotel Naz Garden in Bogura. Prayers were offered for the good health and long life of Tarique Rahman and for the welfare of the Zia family.
