Government’s first budget will be pro-people: Finance Adviser
Finance and Planning Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has said that the first budget of the current government will be “pro-people,” business-friendly and investment-oriented.
He made the remarks during a discussion meeting with local representatives, dignitaries and district-level officials at the Rajbari Municipality Rajanigandha Auditorium around 12:30pm on Friday.
Dr. Titumir said the government is committed to creating a supportive environment for businesses and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
“There is still excessive red tape in many areas. The government is committed to building a business-friendly environment,” he said.
He added that the upcoming budget would focus on ensuring policy continuity, supporting investment, and addressing underdeveloped regions through special incentives and industrial development.
The adviser said around Tk 60,000 crore in incentives has already been introduced, including low-interest facilities for closed industries, women entrepreneurs, micro and cottage industries, and lagging regions.
He expressed hope that entrepreneurs in Rajbari would benefit from these initiatives and contribute to significant economic transformation in the district.
Referring to industrial development, he mentioned plans to develop unused industrial plots and expand industrial zones, including areas linked to Bangladesh Oxygen Company land.
Dr. Titumir said employment generation and reduction of unemployment, especially youth unemployment, are key priorities, along with increasing women’s participation in the labour market.
He stressed the need for expanding investment to boost production and create jobs.
He also highlighted reforms in health and education, saying the government aims to establish healthcare as a fundamental public right and improve education quality in a way that ensures employability.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parvin. Special guests included State Minister for Culture and Rajbari-1 MP Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, District Council Administrator Abdus Salam Mia, Superintendent of Police Md. Manjur Morshed, and Civil Surgeon Dr. SM Masud.
Officials from various government departments, BNP leaders and activists, public representatives, and freedom fighters also attended the programme.
