Govt aims to make Bangladesh liveable, not Singapore or Canada: State Minister
The BNP government will not make promises to turn Bangladesh into Singapore or Canada, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shah Alam has said, adding that the government's goal is to make the country liveable and healthy.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists during a visit to waste management activities on the Dhaka-Aricha highway side in Savar's Baliarpur area on Saturday, July 11.
The state minister said the government is working to ensure a liveable environment through realistic initiatives rather than unrealistic promises like the previous government. He said necessary steps will be taken from the state and administration to achieve this goal.
He said following the prime minister's directive, an initiative has been taken to remove accumulated waste from the Aminbazar to Hemayetpur area (approximately 1.8 km). Plans are in place to clean the area and plant barricades and neem trees so that waste cannot be dumped on the roadside in the future.
He also urged local residents to dump waste in designated landfills and sought everyone's cooperation in protecting the environment.
