Govt appoints 3 officials to secretary-rank posts

The government has appointed three officials to key positions with secretary rank on a contractual basis, according to official notifications issued on Saturday (April 18).

The development was confirmed through separate gazettes issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.

According to the gazette notifications, Dr Mohammad Zakaria has been appointed as Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau, Safiz Uddin Ahmed as Waqf Administrator, and Md Abdullah Al Baki as Chairman of the Land Appeal Board.

The notifications also stated that the appointments have been made under Section 49 of the Government Service Act 2018. The officials will serve in secretary rank for a period of one year from the date of joining.

As per the conditions, they must relinquish any affiliation with other professions, businesses, or positions in government, semi-government, or private institutions before assuming office.

Other terms and conditions of the appointments will be specified in their respective contracts, the notifications added.
