Govt committed to ensuring gender equality in digital transformation: CA Yunus
Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Friday affirmed that the interim government, inspired by the spirit of the July mass uprising, is dedicated to ensuring equal opportunities and rights for men and women in all aspects of digital transformation.
He emphasized that equal participation in telecommunications and information technology is essential to building a modern, discrimination-free society.
On the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May 17, with this year’s theme focusing on gender equality in digital transformation, the Chief Adviser highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing the telecommunications and IT sectors with transparency and accountability.
To facilitate easier access to government services and reduce harassment, the government has launched the ‘Citizen Service’ digital centers, expanding various IT services nationwide through Union Citizen Service Centers.
Special initiatives such as freelancing training for women entrepreneurs and She-STEM training for female students have been introduced. Bangladesh is also set to connect to a satellite-based high-speed internet network, marking a significant step toward providing uninterrupted internet access even in remote areas.
The Chief Adviser called on all stakeholders to collaborate in delivering world-class telecommunications and IT services, expressing confidence that collective efforts will build an inclusive, progressive, and equal Bangladesh, ensuring digital equality for all.
