The government has decided to expedite the implementation of key recommendations made by the Public Administration Reform Commission. A high-level meeting was held on June 16 at the Office of the Chief Adviser to discuss the immediate execution of actionable proposals.

The meeting was chaired by M. Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser. The Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office confirmed the development in an official statement issued Friday afternoon.

It was noted that the interim government formed through the historic student-worker-public uprising—had established several reform commissions, including six major ones, aimed at fulfilling the public's expectations. These commissions have already submitted comprehensive reform proposals to the government.

While proposals involving constitutional amendments and large-scale reforms are being reviewed by the National Consensus Commission under the Chief Adviser’s leadership, the administrative ministries have been directed to immediately implement recommendations that fall within their jurisdiction.

To this end, the Cabinet Division issued a directive on May 25, 2025, to relevant ministries and divisions to begin execution without delay.

According to the meeting, a total of 121 actionable recommendations have been identified across five commissions. These include: 9 proposals from the Electoral System Reform Commission, 38 from the Judicial Reform Commission, 43 from the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, 13 from the Police Reform Commission and 18 from the Public Administration Reform Commission.

The June 16 meeting focused primarily on the 18 proposals submitted by the Public Administration Reform Commission. Among them, eight were identified as relatively easy to implement and were discussed in detail. These include: Ensuring hygienic toilet facilities at highway petrol stations, making ministry websites more dynamic and accessible, formation of managing committees for colleges and secondary schools, improved management of community health centers, organizing public hearings to enhance transparency, effective enforcement of the Right to Information Act, restructuring the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and advancing digital transformation and e-governance services

Officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to swiftly carry out these reforms to improve service delivery, transparency, and accountability in public administration.
