Government employees are set to enjoy a four-day holiday next month on the occasion of Durga Puja, thanks to a combination of public and weekly holidays.

According to the official holiday calendar for 2025, October 1 (Wednesday) has been declared a holiday by executive order in observance of Durga Puja. The following day, October 2 (Thursday), is already a scheduled public holiday for the festival.

With October 3 and 4 (Friday and Saturday) falling on the weekend, government offices will remain closed for four consecutive days — from October 1 to 4 — giving public servants a rare extended break.

Typically, government employees receive three days of leave for Eid and a single day for Durga Puja. However, in some years, additional holidays have been granted through executive orders.

Earlier, on October 17 last year, the Advisory Council approved a total of 11 days of public holidays for the two Eid festivals and two days for Durga Puja in 2025. Based on that decision, the Ministry of Public Administration finalized the holiday calendar.
