Govt issues fresh guidelines to update stipend recipients data
The government has issued fresh, urgent guidelines for updating the database of stipend recipients, with a special focus on students facing complications related to National Identity Card (NID) information.
In a letter sent on Sunday (May 3), the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust directed authorities to separately identify students in classes VI and XI who are unable to provide NID details due to the death or divorce of their parents.
According to the directive, data entry for the integrated stipend programme is currently underway through the HSP-MIS software. However, officials have encountered cases where required NID information cannot be provided because one or both parents are deceased or separated.
To address the issue, the Trust has instructed Upazila and Thana Secondary Education Officers to collect detailed information of such students whose guardians cannot provide NID numbers.
Authorities have been asked to submit a report in a prescribed format, including the students’ class, institution name, EIIN number, total number of affected students, and the number lacking NID due to parental death or divorce.
The matter has been marked as “very urgent,” with all concerned authorities directed to submit the required information by May 7.
