Govt issues gazette forming enforced disappearance prevention tribunals in 8 divisions

The government has formed enforced disappearance prevention and remedy tribunals in the eight divisions of the country. A gazette notification regarding this has recently been issued by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The notification, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Ashikur Rahman, states that the government, using the power conferred by section 13 of the Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Ordinance, 2025, has established the Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunals for the aforementioned divisions. This shall come into effect immediately.

The tribunals formed for preventing enforced disappearance are:

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Dhaka. Jurisdiction: Dhaka division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Chattogram. Jurisdiction: Chattogram division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Sylhet. Jurisdiction: Sylhet division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Mymensingh. Jurisdiction: Mymensingh division.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Rajshahi. Jurisdiction: Rajshahi division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Rangpur. Jurisdiction: Rangpur division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Khulna. Jurisdiction: Khulna division, including the metropolitan area.

Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Remedy Tribunal, Barishal. Jurisdiction: Barishal division, including the metropolitan area.
