The government has issued new directives regarding the purchase and supply of fuel from filling stations as panic over fuel oil has gripped people across the country.

The Energy Division issued the directive on Friday, March 6. The government has specified how much fuel each filling station can supply and how much each consumer can collect.

The directive includes five conditions for receiving or supplying fuel oil:

1. When receiving fuel from a filling station, the consumer must be provided with a purchase receipt mentioning the type, quantity and price of the fuel.
2. At the time of each fuel purchase from a filling station, the consumer must show the previous purchase receipt/bill.
3. Dealers will supply fuel to consumers by accepting purchase receipts according to allocation and directives.
4. Filling stations must provide information regarding fuel stock and sales to the concerned depot before collecting fuel.
5. Before supplying fuel to dealers, marketing companies will review stock and sales information based on current allocation; under no circumstances shall allocation be exceeded.

It is noteworthy that the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel in the Middle East has created a massive fuel crisis in the global market. The impact of the global fuel crisis has reached Bangladesh. For the past two days, long queues have been seen at stations for fuel.
