Govt providing full support for Khaleda Zia’s treatment: Chief Adviser

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has assured that the government is providing all necessary support to ensure proper medical care for BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, while fully respecting her family’s wishes.

Addressing the nation on the country's Victory Day on Tuesday evening (December 16), Dr. Yunus described Khaleda Zia as an integral figure in Bangladesh’s political history. “Her unwavering commitment to democracy, the nation’s sovereignty, and development, along with the respect and affection she commands from the people, makes her treatment a matter of national importance,” he said.

Dr. Yunus emphasised that the government has treated her illness with utmost seriousness from the beginning. Arrangements include top-level medical care in Bangladesh, with provisions for advanced treatment abroad if required.

“The government is committed to ensuring that Khaleda Zia receives the best possible care, in full coordination with her family,” he added.
