Citizens will no longer need to visit government offices to access essential services, as the government rolls out the ‘Nagarik Seba’ (Citizen Service) platform, said Faiz Taiyeb Ahmad , Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser.

Speaking at the inauguration of a Nagarik Seba service center in Nilkhet, Dhaka on Sunday, Faiz Taiyeb Ahmad said the initiative aims to bring various public services under a single digital platform, streamlining access and eliminating the need for physical visits to ministries and departments.

“Previously, people had to go to offices to submit applications for services like NID corrections or renewals. Now, through an API (Application Programming Interface), we’re connecting the NID server directly with the Nagarik Seba platform,” he said.

Currently, the platform offers several key services, including NID-related support, three types of land services, birth and death registration. Passport services will be added soon, he announced. Integration of driving licenses, trade licenses, and trademark services is also underway.

“The platform is evolving into a true digital exchange through inter-ministerial API sharing,” said Taiyeb. “This transformation will bring hundreds of services from various government offices under one digital umbrella.”

He also confirmed that the online General Diary (GD) filing service, which is currently available in two administrative divisions, will expand to more regions by the end of July and roll out nationwide in August.

Following the launch event, Taiyeb spoke with students and highlighted plans to offer student-centered digital services at the Nilkhet service center.

“This area is a hub for students with residential halls and numerous bookstores. We want to ensure they can access government services without having to go elsewhere,” he said.

In response to questions from students, he revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Education to include services like certificate corrections and other education-related processes in the Nagarik Seba platform. Certificate verification services are already available, he added.
