The government has assured that it is giving due importance to the demands of engineering students following their recent protests, and has called for an end to further agitation.

Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, made the remarks today after the first meeting of a committee formed to assess the legitimacy of the students’ professional demands and draft recommendations. The meeting was held at the Secretariat.

“The government is engaging with the parents and employers of the students involved in the protests. It is not feasible to immediately accept demands—whether three-point, seven-point, or any partial list—without proper discussion,” he said. “Since the government is taking the matter seriously, there is no need for additional protest programs.”

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser on Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources, said a 14-member working group has been established under the leadership of the Public Works Secretary to identify issues faced by BSc and Diploma engineers. The group includes representatives from engineering bodies and the Ministries of Public Administration and Law. Work began today, and all viewpoints will be heard.

She added, “If students wish, the advisory committee will also listen to their concerns. Recommendations will be submitted to the government within one month.”

The Environment Adviser urged students to avoid causing public inconvenience through protests, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing their demands.
