Govt to announce decision on July Charter, referendum soon: Environment Adviser
Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that there is no possibility of talks with political parties regarding the July Charter and referendum, and that the government will soon announce its decision on the matter.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday, November 10, she said that no consensus had been reached among political parties regarding the implementation of the July Charter and the timing of the referendum. She mentioned that the seven-day timeframe allocated by the government for discussions ended on Sunday.
The BNP, objecting to the reforms and the referendum, has said that a referendum before the national election is not possible. Meanwhile, eight parties including Jamaat-e-Islami are preparing for a movement demanding a referendum before the election and have planned a large rally in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has urged the government to take a prompt decision to resolve the political crisis.
