Govt to form committee to review Public Service Ordinance

Amid ongoing employee protests demanding the repeal of the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025,’ the government has announced the formation of a committee to review the ordinance. Sheikh Abu Taher, Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Justice, will head the committee.

Officials from the Ministry of Public Administration and the Cabinet Division confirmed the decision on Tuesday (27 May).

The committee will comprise seven senior government secretaries and three representatives from the protesting employees.

Meanwhile, ASM Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, has called a meeting with employee leaders scheduled for 2 PM.

Protests continued today as employees from various ministries and departments gathered at the Secretariat, reiterating their demand for the ordinance’s repeal.

This follows a three-day blockade of the Secretariat’s main gate by employees from multiple ministries and departments, who have also announced plans for further demonstrations.
