The government will provide necessary assistance to repair homes damaged by the floods in Chattogram, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has said.

He made the remarks while distributing relief in front of the Iqbal Convention Hall in Dohazari, bordering Chandonish and Satkania upazilas, on Monday afternoon, July 13.

The state minister urged everyone to stand by the affected people during the crisis.

"Once the water recedes, the upazila administration will be able to reach every area and assess the actual damage. Our main focus right now is relief and rescue—we want to rescue the affected people and get food to them," he said.

Regarding rehabilitation, he said, "After the water recedes, rehabilitation work will begin. The government will provide assistance to repair every damaged home. Those whose land has been submerged, whose ponds have been washed away, or whose livestock have been lost will be compensated so they can recover."

The state minister also said NGOs have been requested to suspend the collection of July instalments due to the floods.

MP Jasim Uddin Ahmed of Chandonish and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Mia were present at the time.
