Govt to issue show-cause notice to Gazipur Police Commissioner

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Nazmul Karim Khan is set to receive a show-cause notice from the government over allegations of closing public roads for his daily commute.

The matter was confirmed by Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday, following a meeting of the government’s Core Committee on Law and Order.

"The issue has come to our attention. The Commissioner will be asked to explain why public roads are being blocked for his personal movement to and from the workplace," the adviser told reporters.

Chowdhury stated that the government has taken the issue seriously and is already moving to take appropriate action. “The matter has been discussed. A show-cause notice will be issued,” he said.

Sources within the administration said further steps may follow based on the Commissioner’s response. The use of public infrastructure for personal convenience by public officials has drawn criticism from civil society and commuters alike.
