Govt to lift travel ban in CHT once situation normalizes: Adviser

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain said that tourist ban in the Chittagong Hill Tracts will be lifted once the situation normalizes as the government is working to restore public confidence.

He said: "The tourist ban in the Chittagong Hill Tracts will be lifted once the situation normalizes. The current interim government is implementing reforms in various sectors following a transitional period. These reforms will continue until peace is restored among the people."

He made these remarks to reporters on Sunday after inspecting the site of the District Model Mosque and Complex Building in various parts of Bandarban town.

Speaking about the ongoing ban on tourists in the hilly region of Bandarban and the current situation, the religious advisor said: "The ban will be lifted once the situation normalizes. The local administration is working on this. The government has taken all necessary measures to maintain peace and harmony among the region's communities."

In the morning, the adviser inspected the proposed site of the Model Mosque and Complex in areas such as the stadium area, New Gulshan, Meghla, and Long Ghona in the Reicha area of Bandarban town.

He arrived in Bandarban for a visit on Saturday evening.

The adviser was accompanied by Abdul Hamid Jamaddar, secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mozahid Uddin, Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawsar, and other administration officials.
