Govt to prioritise trial of Muradnagar rape case: Asif Nazrul
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring swift and serious legal action in the recent rape case reported in Muradnagar, Cumilla.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday, following an Advisory Council meeting, Nazrul said, “We will ensure justice in the Muradnagar rape case with utmost seriousness. The government is fully committed to this.”
He expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “Like ordinary citizens, we are deeply shocked by this crime. The Ministry of Home Affairs acted promptly. The prime accused, along with those involved in the circulation of images related to the incident—an extremely irresponsible and criminal act—have all been arrested.”
Nazrul further noted that recent legal reforms demonstrate the government's commitment to addressing such crimes effectively. “We have already amended the law relating to rape. You have seen how quickly justice was delivered in the Magura case. Similar urgency and seriousness will be maintained in the Muradnagar case,” he added.
