The government will not tolerate any attempt to disrupt religious harmony in the country, said Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

He made the remarks on Wednesday morning at a ceremony in the capital’s Khilkhet area, where land allotment documents were handed over to three mosques and one temple.

Addressing the event, Alam acknowledged that a Hindu temple was previously removed during the eviction of illegal establishments on railway land in Khilkhet. He admitted that the eviction was not carried out in a respectful manner.

“In consideration of that, the Ministry of Railways has allocated new land for the Hindu community to establish a place of worship,” he said, adding that the land was acquired at the official rate set by the railway authorities.

The Press Secretary also stated that instructions have been issued to renovate the stairway at the Chandranath Temple in Chattogram, following a request from temple authorities.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding religious harmony and ensuring equal respect and rights for all communities.
