Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has said the interim government has been working with commitment to ensure economic stability and achieve desired growth since assuming office.

In a message, marking the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)–2026, on Wednesday (December 31), he said the fair could play a vital catalytic role in the country’s economic advancement by expanding economic activities, creating employment and opening new avenues for increasing exports of Bangladeshi products abroad.

Expressing strong optimism, Dr Yunus said the trade fair would contribute significantly to promoting local products, diversifying goods, attracting foreign investment and accelerating overall national development.

He noted that the Dhaka International Trade Fair has been playing an important role in expanding Bangladesh’s export trade. The month-long event, he said, has been effectively showcasing high-quality locally produced goods to domestic and international visitors, consumers, buyers and importers.

At the same time, local entrepreneurs and consumers are gaining valuable insights into the quality, design and global trends of foreign products through the fair, the chief adviser added.

Dr Yunus expressed hope that all participating countries and institutions would work on the basis of mutual cooperation and partnership, making the fair attractive, buyer-friendly and festive through effective participation.

Extending his greetings and congratulations to local and foreign industrial entrepreneurs, investors, traders and buyers, he said the fair is a unique platform to present Bangladesh’s vast potential on the global stage. He wished overall success of DITF–2026.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF–2026) has been rescheduled in view of the government-declared three-day state mourning following the death of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Although the fair was initially scheduled to be inaugurated on January 1, it will now be formally opened on January 3, 2026 (Saturday).
