Grocery trader hacked to death in Narsingdi

A grocery trader has been hacked to death at Charsindur Bazar in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi.

The deceased is Moni Chakraborty, 40, a resident of Sadharchar Union in neighboring Shibpur Upazila and was the son of the deceased Madan Thakur. He had been doing grocery business in Charsindur Bazar for a long time.

The murder took place around 11 pm on Monday (January 6). The police could not immediately reveal the reason for his murder.

Police and locals said that miscreants attacked him with local weapons when Moni Chakraborty was returning home after closing his shop when. Later, locals rescued critically injured Moni and took him to Palash Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Palash Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahed Al Mamun said, "The police inspected the scene after receiving the news. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy. And the police operation is underway to arrest the criminals."
