Groundbreaking Book “5C” by Rashed Kanchan
Acclaimed Bangladeshi author and veteran journalist Rashed Kanchan has unveiled a bold and thought-provoking new book titled “5C – Corruption, Conspiracy, Capitalism, Contradictory & Collaborations”, which offers a scathing yet scholarly critique of Bangladesh’s national budget system over the last five decades.
The book, published by Pan American Publishers Inc. in Washington D.C., was released simultaneously in 11 major cities, including New York, London, Berlin, Zurich, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, and Dhaka, marking a significant moment for South Asian economic literature on a global scale.
“5C” is the culmination of 25 years of in-depth research, real-time observation, and comparative policy analysis by Rashed Kanchan, who draws upon both his frontline journalistic experience and insider economic insight. The book investigates systemic corruption, entrenched political conspiracies, and the far-reaching impact of global capitalism on Bangladesh’s budgeting processes, public finance, and development planning.
"This book is not just a criticism of budgetary failure; it's a wake-up call to reassess the cost of foreign aid dependency and internal financial mismanagement," said Kanchan.
The book is co-edited by Merry William, an academic from McGill University, adding a layer of international academic credibility. “5C” not only critically analyzes Bangladesh’s budgetary trajectory but also contextualizes it within global economic policymaking trends, providing readers with a broader understanding of development economics.
Rashed Kanchan is a prominent media personality in Bangladesh, widely known for his work as a news presenter and reporter on ATN Bangla and previously Channel i. He is also the founder and CEO of Rashed Kanchan Corporation (RKC), a leading Dhaka-based public relations and communications agency established in 2005. Kanchan has extensive experience reporting from global conflict zones, including the 2003 Iraq War and the 2001 Sierra Leone Civil War, adding depth to his understanding of international politics and finance.
The worldwide distribution of "5C" is managed by Panorama Publishing Company, Paris, ensuring its availability in libraries, universities, policy institutions, and major bookstores around the world.
With well-documented data, fearless critique, and urgent relevance, “5C” is already being described as a must-read for economists, policy analysts, journalists, and anyone interested in the trajectory of governance and development in Bangladesh.
