Guidelines issued on calculators, watches for HSC exams
The Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has issued new guidelines regarding the use of calculators and watches by students in the upcoming HSC and equivalent examinations. The instructions allow the use of specific 8 models of scientific non-programmable calculators. The opportunity to use general calculators has also been kept.
This information was announced in a notice signed by the Board’s Examination Controller Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu on Wednesday (June 17).
The notice states that examinees can use the following Casio brand scientific calculators: Fx-82MS, Fx-100MS, Fx-570MS, Fx-991MS, Fx-991EX, Fx-991ES, Fx-991ES Plus, and Fx-991CW. Besides these, the use of similar general calculators will also be allowed.
Additionally, the instructions mention that students will be allowed to use analogue (non-programmable) wristwatches in the examination centres. Considering the importance of the matter, all centre-in-charges under the Dhaka Education Board have been directed to take necessary measures.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Education Board has opened a special control room for the smooth conduct of the upcoming HSC and equivalent examinations. This arrangement has been made for the exchange of examination-related information, emergency communication, and overall coordination.
In another notice, the Board has requested that the control room’s phone number, mobile numbers, and email address be publicised through various media outlets and displayed on news scrolls to inform the public ahead of the HSC and equivalent examinations starting from 2 July.
The control room phone number is 02-223369815. The mobile numbers for contact are 01550411203, 01714994073, and 01756103152. The email address is controller@dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd.
