Gusty rain likely in 6 districts, temperatures may drop

Gusty winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may sweep over six districts of the country. River ports in the affected areas have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No. 1.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued the forecast for inland river ports for the period from 5am to 1pm on Tuesday, September 1.

According to the forecast, temporary gusty winds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour from the south or southeast may sweep over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar regions, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the forecast for the next six hours from 7am said the sky would be partly cloudy, with rain or thundershowers likely at some places. Winds from the south or southeast may blow at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour, and daytime temperatures may drop slightly.

The Met Office said the temperature in Dhaka at 6am on Tuesday was 28 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity at 83 percent. On Monday, Dhaka recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 27.8 degrees Celsius. Rainfall of 1mm was recorded in Dhaka in the past 24 hours.

The Met Office also said many places in Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and some places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds by 6pm today. Additionally, moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at some places across the country.

Sunset today will be at 6:17pm, and sunrise tomorrow at 5:40am.
