Hadi murder: Faisal-Alamgir in Kolkata court after remand
The main accused in the murder case of Inquilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Hadi, Faisal Karim Masud, and his associate Alamgir Sheikh have been produced before the Bidhannagar court in Kolkata after being remanded for 14 days.
Before being produced in court, they were taken to the hospital for a physical examination on Sunday (March 22). At that time, Faisal claimed that he was not involved in the murder and that he was being framed through a conspiracy. However, Alamgir did not comment on this matter.
Earlier, Faisal and Alamgir were arrested by the West Bengal Police's Special Task Force (STF) from the Bangaon area of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, adjacent to the Bangladesh border on March 7. The next day, when they were produced before a local court, the judge sent them to 14-day police remand on March 8.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi national Philip Sangma was sent to 14-day jail custody in the same case on Saturday (March 21). During this time, the STF will be able to interrogate him in jail. He will be produced in court again on April 3.
Philip Sangma was examined at Bidhannagar Hospital before being taken to court. Later, he was kept in the lockup of Electronic Complex Police Station in Kolkata and from there sent to Dum Dum Central Jail.
It is worth noting that Osman Hadi was seriously injured in bullets with two motorcycle-riding men on his way back from a public meeting after Friday prayers on Box Culvert Road in Paltan, Dhaka on December 12 last year. He later died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital on December 18.
Some of the accused arrested in the case filed in this incident have already given confessional statements in the court. Currently, the decision of the Bidhannagar court is awaited regarding the remaining two accused.
