Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has said the trial over the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and frontline July movement activist Sharif Osman Hadi will be conducted under the Speedy Trial Tribunal and completed within 90 days.
He made the announcement in a post on his verified Facebook page at around 2pm on Sunday, December 22. In the post, he said the trial would be held under the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act 2022, under which the case must be concluded within a maximum of 90 days after submission of the police report.
Earlier, at an emergency press conference held by Inqilab Mancha in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh around noon, speakers demanded the formation of a speedy trial tribunal and the involvement of international investigative agencies such as the FBI and Scotland Yard to ensure justice in the Hadi murder case.
At the press conference, Inqilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber urged the government to immediately form a judicial tribunal and involve international investigative agencies. He also announced a protest march scheduled for 3pm, saying that after the demonstration the platform would decide whether it would continue to support the government or launch a movement seeking its removal.
