Hadi unlikely to recover quickly, may require prolonged ICU care: Dr Rafi
Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha and independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, is unlikely to recover quickly and may need to remain in intensive care for a prolonged period, according to Dr Abdullah Al Rafi of Singapore General Hospital.
In a video statement shared on his verified social media account on Tuesday (December 16), Dr Rafi said Hadi’s condition remains critical and expectations of a rapid recovery are unrealistic. “Inshallah, Hadi will return, but not in the near future,” he said.
Dr Rafi noted that Singapore General Hospital has one of the region’s strongest neurosurgery facilities, including the National Neuroscience Institute, which is equipped with advanced technology such as robotic-assisted surgery. He said a bullet fragment is believed to remain lodged in Hadi’s brain, and once his condition stabilises, doctors may conduct an intraoperative MRI—an advanced procedure not available in Bangladesh or nearby countries.
Referring to Hadi’s Glasgow Coma Scale score of three, Dr Rafi added that patients in such condition typically require long-term treatment.
