Hannan Masud reportedly attacked in Hatiya, 10 injured in clash

Allegations have been raised that a car carrying MP Abdul Hannan Masud was attacked in Hatiya, Noakhali. Several people from both sides are claimed to have been injured in the incident.

The incident occurred around 1 pm on Wednesday, February 25, in the Project Bazar area of Noakhali's Hatiya upazila.

MP Abdul Hannan Masud went live on his verified Facebook page and alleged that BNP-backed activists attacked his vehicle. He also claimed that several activists accompanying him were injured.

According to local sources, MP Hannan Masud was visiting the area to inquire about ordinary people affected by election violence and to conduct a spot visit.

When he reached the Project Bazar area, miscreants attacked him. As news spread, clashes broke out between his supporters and the attackers. At one stage of the clash, MP Hannan Masud took position on the road at the scene. Both sides are currently positioned on opposite sides of the road, creating extreme tension in the area.

During this time, Hannan Masud said, "I came to inspect the Project Bazar area. At that time, identified terrorists and robbers led by Bellal Majhi attacked and injured us. I have taken position here. I will not leave this position until Bellal Majhi is arrested. He had also attacked former MP Fazlul Azim in 2018."

Hatiya Police Station OC Saiful Alam said, "I am at the scene. Police are working to maintain law and order."

Noakhali District Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Taib Mohammad Arif Hossain informed that an additional police team has been sent to the spot after learning of the matter. Details will be provided later after gathering information.
