Hasibur sent to jail in model Ridhi's abetment to suicide case
A Dhaka court has ordered the imprisonment of Hasibur Rahman, who was arrested in the abetment to suicide case filed over the death of model and actress Ridhika Ridhi in Dhaka's Bashundhara Residential Area. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam issued the order on Sunday.
On Saturday morning, family members rescued Ridhi hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom. She was subsequently taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. That same day, Ridhi's mother, Moni Begum, filed a case against Hasibur Rahman at Bhatara Police Station accusing him of abetment to suicide.
According to the remand application, sufficient evidence supporting the plaintiff's allegations against the arrested accused has emerged during preliminary questioning and case investigation, and the probe against him remains ongoing. The application also stated that the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation and admitted his involvement, warning that he might flee if released on bail.
Lawyer Golam Kibria Choton applied for bail on behalf of Hasibur Rahman, seeking to hold the hearing on Tuesday. Consequently, the court sent him to jail and scheduled the bail hearing for Tuesday.
Police stated that Ridhi was on a video call with her boyfriend at the time of the incident. While the event appears preliminarily to be a suicide, the exact cause of death and the surrounding circumstances are being thoroughly investigated.
Alongside modeling, Ridhi acted in several television dramas, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon, and Sundari.
