HC dismisses photographer Shahidul Alam's ICT act case
The High Court has declared the case against photographer Shahidul Alam under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act to be illegal. His lawyers confirmed that the case has therefore been dismissed. The verdict was delivered on Thursday (August 7).
Earlier, on November 4, 2024, the High Court suspended the investigation and issued a rule questioning why the case should not be dismissed.
Shahidul Alam had filed a petition with the High Court seeking the dismissal of the case. According to his lawyers, the case was initially filed in August 2018 under the ICT Act, while the Digital Security Act came into effect later that October.
The court ultimately dismissed the case on August 7, 2025.
