HC issues rule on bail for Chinmoy Krishna in five cases
The High Court has issued a rule regarding the bail of expelled ISKCON organizer and Sanatani Jagaran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das in five cases, including charges of murder and sedition.
A bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Md. Saiful Islam passed the order on Monday (September 1).
A hearing on the rule is scheduled for October, Chinmoy’s lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed.
Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on November 25, 2024, by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The following day, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was killed in a violent clash centering on Chinmoy’s bail hearing. Alif’s father later filed a murder case against 31 people.
In addition, five other cases were filed against Chinmoy and his associates on charges of attacking police, obstructing government duties, assaulting lawyers and trial-seekers, and detonating cocktails.
