Head-on collision between pickup and truck kills 4 in Netrakona

Four people, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a fertiliser-laden truck in East Dhala, Netrakona. Three others were injured in the accident.

The collision occurred around 4:30pm on Thursday (August 13) in the Narandia area on the Netrakona-Mymensingh highway.

Three men and one woman were among the deceased. Their identities could not be immediately confirmed.

Police and local sources said a pickup van heading towards Mymensingh from Netrakona collided head-on with a fertiliser-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. Three men and a woman in the pickup van were critically injured and died on the spot. The three injured were rescued and sent to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Traffic on the highway came to a halt following the accident. Police from Shyamganj Police Outpost, Shyamganj Highway Police, and fire service members reached the scene and began rescue operations after receiving the news.
