Health Minister warns of strict action over 6 newborn deaths at Ad-Din Hospital
Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has warned of strict action against those responsible for the death of six newborns at Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in Magbazar, capital.
Speaking to journalists after visiting Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in Kishoreganj on Wednesday, May 27, the minister said the hospital authorities' negligence led to the loss of six lives.
"A committee has already been formed to investigate the matter, and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty," he said.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Bomb Disposal Unit visited the scene to investigate the cause of the newborns' deaths.
During his unannounced visit to various hospitals in Kishoreganj, the minister inspected the emergency department, male and female wards, and the kitchen. He inquired about patient care and food quality.
The minister also said all types of vaccines are in stock at the hospital, and the government is working tirelessly to prevent the measles outbreak. Children who have not yet received measles vaccines are being tracked and brought under vaccination coverage.
