Hearing on Jamaat's appeal over registration adjourned till Wednesday

The hearing of Jamaat-e-Islami's appeal against the High Court's verdict canceling its political party registration has been adjourned. The appeal hearing will resume next Wednesday. The full bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refat Ahmed, set the new date for the hearing.

Earlier, the hearing began on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Barrister Ehsan Abdullah Siddique represented Jamaat, with support from Barrister Imran Abdullah Siddique, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir, and Barrister Najib Momen.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Mashum, Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zobair, and Advocate Moyazzem Hossain Helal were present in the courtroom.

Earlier, on May 7, the Appellate Division set this Tuesday for the hearing of the appeal seeking the reinstatement of Jamaat-e-Islami's registration and symbol as a political party. The date was set under the leadership of Chief Justice Dr Syed Refat Ahmed.

The appeal hearing for Jamaat’s cancellation of its political party registration started on March 12, but no further hearings took place afterward.
