Heatwave likely to persist across country

Warm temperatures are forecasted to continue nationwide. Seasonal weather patterns may bring temporary thunderstorms with lightning or rain to parts of Sylhet division, along with a few areas in Mymensingh and Chattogram.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's weather forecast on Thursday (April 24), daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain consistent across the country.

In the capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas, the sky may be temporarily cloudy, with daytime temperatures expected to remain fairly stable.

The forecast also indicated that the weather in Dhaka and surrounding areas is expected to remain dry, with winds from the southwest or south blowing at 10-15 kilometers per hour. At 6.00 am today, the temperature in Dhaka was 28.2°C, with 83% humidity. While the sky was cloudy, the likelihood of rain remains low.

Yesterday (Wednesday), the highest recorded temperature was 39.8°C, while the lowest was 21.2°C. Additionally, 59 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Sylhet over the past 24 hours.

The weather forecast for Friday (April 25) predicts temporary thunderstorms with lightning or rain in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, as well as a few areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions, starting from 6.00pm. Daytime temperatures may see a slight decrease, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable.
