The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast a slight easing of the mild heatwave affecting 25 districts, with temperatures expected to dip marginally over the next 24 hours as rain and thunderstorms develop across several parts of the country.

The weather office said the heatwave is currently sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, as well as Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Kishoreganj, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal and Patuakhali districts.

The heatwave may ease in some areas, while the overall cooler trend could continue for the next few days, according to the forecast.

Many parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds. Similar conditions may occur in some areas of Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Moderate to very heavy rainfall is also possible in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the weather office said.

In Dhaka and neighbouring areas, the sky may remain partly cloudy, becoming temporarily cloudy, with rain or thundershowers possible until noon. Winds may blow from the south or southwest at 8–12 kmph, while daytime temperatures are expected to fall slightly.
