Heavy thundershowers likely for five consecutive days

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy thundershowers in various parts of the country for five consecutive days. The forecast was issued on Friday morning, June 26, for the next 120 hours.

According to the forecast, an extension of a low-pressure system from Gangetic West Bengal extends to the north-west Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over the north Bay of Bengal.

Rain or thundershowers are likely across all divisions, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions for the first three days, and in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions for the following two days.

A mild heatwave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Nilphamari districts, as well as Khulna division, and may continue. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the next 24 hours. Temperatures may rise slightly on Saturday, then drop slightly on Sunday and Monday, with day temperatures dropping slightly and night temperatures rising slightly on Tuesday.

Rainfall activity is expected to continue in the coming days.
