Ashraful Hossain Alom, widely known as Hero Alom, regained his candidacy to contest in the upcoming national polls from the Bogura-4 constituency. Kazi Habibul Awal, chief election commissioner, along with other election commissioners delivered the verdict on Sunday afternoon (10 December) after reviewing his appeal. Getting the candidacy back, Hero Alam told reporters, “I told earlier that I will get back the candidacy from EC. The candidacy has been returned at the hearing. Thanks to EC, I will contest with the symbol 'green coconut'." "If the election is held fairly, I hope to win. I have never joined any party before. This time, I became a candidate of Bangladesh Congress." Earlier on December 3, the returning officer cancelled Hero Alam's candidacy for wrongly filing the nomination paper.

বগুড়া-৪ (কাহালু-নন্দীগ্রাম) আসনে দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করতে মনোনয়নের বৈধতা ফিরে পেয়েছেন আলোচিত ইউটিউবার আশরাফুল হোসেন আলম ওরফে হিরো আলম। রোববার (১০ ডিসেম্বর) প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) কাজী হাবিবুল আউয়ালের নেতৃত্বাধীন কমিশন আপিল শুনানির পর হিরো আলমের প্রার্থিতাকে বৈধ বলে ঘোষণা করেন। প্রার্থিতা ফিরে পেয়ে হিরো আলম সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, “আমি বলেছিলাম, ইসি থেকে প্রার্থিতা ফিরে পাবো। শুনানিতে প্রার্থিতা ফিরে পেয়েছি। ইসিকে ধন্যবাদ। ডাব মার্কা প্রতীকে ভোট করব।” তিনি বলেন, “সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন হলে বিজয়ী হবো বলে আশা করি। আগে কোনো দলে যোগ দেইনি। এবারই বাংলাদেশ কংগ্রেসের প্রার্থী হলাম।” বগুড়া-৪ আসনে বাংলাদেশ কংগ্রেসের প্রার্থী হিসেবে মনোনয়নপত্র জমা দিয়েছিলেন হিরো আলম। ৩ ডিসেম্বর তার মনোনয়নপত্র বাতিল ঘোষণা করা হয়। যথাযথভাবে মনোনয়নপত্র পূরণ না করায় তার মনোনয়নপত্র বাতিল করেছিলেন রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তা।
