Higher profits of traders responsible for price hike: Home Boss

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said the prices of daily commodities are increasing due to higher profits of the traders.

He said, "The product which is sold at Tk20 in Kawran Bazar is being sold at Tk40 a short distance away. Due to the thought of more profits, the price of goods is increasing."

The Home Minister came up with remarks in response to questions from journalists after the inauguration ceremony of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security Course at the Bangladesh Police Staff College in capital's Mirpur on Saturday (March 23).

Asaduzzaman Khan said, "The prices of essentials are hiked in Dhaka due to the higher profits of the traders, rather than the extortion. Police special drives are on to stop the extortion."

"Dhaka-Chattogram highway is already under CCTV cameras to stop extortion. In the future, all highways will be brought under CCTVs," he added.
