Hindu neighbour ‘ensures job’ by donating land to Muslim youth

A Hindu person has set a unique example of religious harmony and humanity in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar. He has donated one decimal of land without any kind of financial exchange to a Muslim youth who was at risk of being left out in the verification of appointment after getting a job as there was no immovable property in his father’s name.

The sub-registrar of Juri upazila has confirmed the authenticity of this incident on Sunday (October 4). However, considering the matter of government rules and regulations, he did not want to disclose the identities of the donor and the recipient. According to his statement, after coming to know about the complication related to the job verification of the youth, that neighbour took the decision to give the land on his own initiative.

It has been learnt from local sources that the youth got into a problem in the verification process after passing the recruitment examination of Sonali Bank and getting the job. His family had no own house or immovable property for a long time. They had been living in a rented house in Juri upazila. Uncertainty was created over the job when the issue of there being no land or any other immovable property in the father’s name came up during the verification.

Sub-registrar of Juri upazila Md. Mohiuddin said that a complication had been created in the verification as there was no immovable property in the father’s name of the Muslim youth who got the job. After coming to know about the matter, his Hindu neighbour donated one decimal of land without any exchange. He even bore the cost of land registration himself.

The sub-registrar further informed that the family of that youth has been living in a rented house for a long time. After coming to know about their situation, the neighbour spontaneously took the decision to help. He also informed that the entire process of land donation has been completed.

After the incident spread in the area, extensive discussion has been created among the locals. They are viewing the incident of standing beside a youth who was at the risk of losing an important opportunity like a job without any expectation as an example of humanity. Especially, the matter of coming forward in the neighbour’s crisis despite the difference in religious identity has earned praise among the locals.

The locals are saying that this incident of Juri is an example that religious identity cannot be a barrier to standing beside people. This initiative of the neighbour to remove the future uncertainty of a youth will remain not only as personal assistance but also as a bright example of social harmony and mutual empathy.
