Historic Liberation War front-line sites to be preserved: Ishraque

The government will take initiatives to preserve the historic front-line sites of the Liberation War, erect monuments or memorials there, and document the associated history, said State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting a Liberation War memorial site on the banks of the Dhaleshwari River in Fulhar village, Sirajdikhan upazila, Munshiganj, on Friday (July 31).

Ishraque Hossain said there are three important front-line Liberation War sites in Syedpur village of Sirajdikhan. The ministry will take necessary steps to preserve and document the full history of these sites, assess the feasibility of constructing memorials, and proceed accordingly.

He said Bangladesh was born through the great Liberation War . Subsequent movements and struggles in the country, including the mass uprising of 2024, were all driven by the ideals of the Liberation War .

Sirajdikhan Upazila Executive Officer Rumpa Ghosh, Srinagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Anichur Rahman, Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Alauddin, and leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies were present.

After the visit, the state minister paid a courtesy call on the Pir of Madhupur, Abdul Hamid, at Madhupur Jamia Halimia Madrasa in the upazila.
