Holy Ashura June 26
Holy Ashura will be observed on Friday (June 26). This decision was made at the National Moon Sighting Committee meeting on Tuesday.
According to a notification from the Islamic Foundation, the moon of the holy month of Muharram of the Hijri year 1448 was sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Tuesday. As a result, the counting of the holy month of Muharram will start from Wednesday (June 17) and the holy Ashura will be observed on Friday (June 26). This day is a government holiday as per the executive order.
The date of Ashura was determined by reviewing the information received from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation head office, divisional and district offices, Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Space Research and Remote Sensing Institute at the National Moon Sighting Committee meeting held on Tuesday evening under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. Fazlur Rahman.
