Holy Cross College celebrates platinum jubilee
Holy Cross College, a traditional women's educational institution in Bangladesh, has celebrated its 75th anniversary. The event, organized under the theme '75 Years of Legacy: Truth, Wisdom & Excellence', was festive and dignified with the participation of local and foreign guests, diplomats, religious leaders and past and present students.
The main ceremony began at 2:30 pm on Thursday with the reception of the guests. This was followed by the inauguration of the new gates of the college and the mural of the visionary of Holy Cross College.
The programme gained a different dimension with the performance of the national anthem, college prayer, college anthem and jubilee theme song. The inaugural dance performance captivated the audience.
Sister Shikha Leticia Gomez, CSC, Principal of Holy Cross College, delivered the welcome speech at the event. She said: "The ideals of truth, wisdom and excellence that we have cherished for 75 years will remain unbroken in the future."
The event was addressed by Mrs. Fahmina Hamin, President of Holy Cross College Alumni Association, Tapan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Group, British High Commissioner Ms. Sarah Cooke, and Sister Charlotte Anne Wapner, President of Holy Cross Sisters Association.
The special guests were Mrs. Rehana Parveen, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and Archbishop Kevin S. Randall, Vatican Ambassador to Bangladesh.
The chief guest was Reverend Sister Tiziana Marletti, SFP, Secretary of the Vatican's Dicastery of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
She said that Holy Cross College is a unique example in establishing women's education and human values.
The Archbishop of Dhaka Mahadharma Pradesh and President of the College Governing Board, Most Reverend Vijay N. D'Cruz, OMI, also spoke at the event.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Holy Cross College concluded with colorful arrangements and emotional reminiscences.
