Holy Qurbani begins nationwide after Eid prayers
The holy Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated across the country with religious solemnity, festive atmosphere and the glory of sacrifice. In various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, animal sacrifice activities have begun in the hope of attaining the pleasure of Allah Almighty after the Eid congregation in the morning.
Since, there has been a lot of activity in slaughtering animals, preparing meat and distributing it in different areas of the capital, districts and upazilas on Thursday (May 28) morning.
President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have extended their greetings to the countrymen and the global Muslim community on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
In a message, President Md. Shahabuddin called for sharing the joy of sacrifice with the poor, deprived and needy people. He said, ‘Eid-ul-Azha is not only the main religious festival of Muslims, it is a glorious call for self-sacrifice, self-purification and sacrifice of jealousy, hatred and animality of mind.’
The President also said that the example of surrender, patience, faith and obedience that Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) set by preparing to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in obedience to the command of Almighty Allah has become an eternal ideal for mankind.
Meanwhile, in a video message, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman extended Eid greetings to the countrymen and the world's Muslims. He said, sacrifice is not just slaughtering animals; rather, the true significance of sacrifice is the lesson of suppressing greed, lust, jealousy and animality of mind.
Wishing everyone a happy Eid, the Prime Minister said, this festival of surrender to Allah by declaring His supremacy will reveal the glory of our sacrifice and will move us forward on the path of truth and beauty.
The Prime Minister urged those who can afford to sacrifice to share the meat of the sacrifice with the less fortunate. He also urged everyone to be aware of the need to properly preserve animal skins and clean up blood and waste quickly to protect the environment.
In addition to supporting sanitation workers, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also urged the countrymen to participate in sanitation activities from their respective positions.
