Holy Shab-e-Meraj to be observed on Jan 16
The holy month of Rajab has begun in Bangladesh following the sighting of the moon, and Holy Shab-e-Meraj will be observed across the country on the night of Friday, January 16.
The decision was taken on Sunday evening, December 21, at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation conference room at Baitul Mukarram.
The meeting was chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain.
After reviewing reports received from district administrations, the Islamic Foundation’s headquarters and its divisional and district offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation, SPARRSO, the committee confirmed the sighting of the Rajab moon of the 1447 Hijri year and finalised the date accordingly.
