Home Adviser confident of fair, smooth RUCSU, CUCSU elections

Home Affairs Advsier Jahangir Alam Chowdhury expressed hope that the upcoming elections for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) and the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) will be conducted smoothly and fairly. He also assured that there are no security concerns related to the polls.

Speaking after a meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday regarding law and order for the elections, Chowdhury said that the experience from the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections showed that manual vote counting took significant time. As a result, universities will consider using the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) system to speed up the counting process.

Chowdhury added that lessons learned from the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and JUCSU elections would be applied in future student union elections, and that these experiences could also benefit national elections.

Education Adviser C R Abrar noted the strong enthusiasm among students for the RUCSU and CUCSU elections and expressed confidence that the polls would be conducted properly.
