Home Adviser urges India to use proper channels for push-ins

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Affairs Adviser, has called on India to send back individuals identified as push-ins through proper diplomatic channels.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Lt. Gen. Chowdhury said, “Those who are Bangladeshi citizens should be returned via the proper channels. If they belong to our country, we will accept them without hesitation.”

He noted a recent rise in the number of push-ins along the Bangladesh border and stated that Bangladesh has lodged protests against the issue. “While we send back illegal foreign nationals residing in Bangladesh through proper processes, India has not reciprocated,” he added.

On whether bilateral talks have taken place on this matter, he confirmed, “Discussions have occurred at our level, and foreign ministry officials remain in contact.”

Addressing concerns over border safety, Lt. Gen. Chowdhury reassured, “There is no security lapse along the border. Our forces are fully prepared to manage any situation, ensuring peace and safety for our people.”
